KARACHI, Sept 19: Former world champion and President World Squash Federation (WSF) Jahangir Khan said on Tuesday that nepotism and lack of passion among the younger players were the root causes for the decline of squash in the country.

“Pakistani players are brilliant and talented but they lack spirit and devotion,” he said.

“These youngsters know what to do but they are not applying themselves,” he regretted. “Hard work, discipline and planning is required to revive country's squash glory.”

The WSF chief said PSF must entertain suggestions from players and experts for revival of the sport. “PSF never really sought my advice,” he said. “We are lacking professional expertise.”

“Nepotism and favouritism have also hurt progress of squash. Influential relatives of some players are involved in the game which is detrimental for squash,” he added.—APP
