PESHAWAR, Sept 19: Acting Governor of the NWFP, Justice Tariq Pervez Khan, on Tuesday expressed concern over rise in incidents of kidnapping in the province, directing police to strive to find the kidnapped people possible and arrest the criminals.

Justice Khan paid a surprise visit to various police stations in the city, inspected their different sections and checked the record.

He first went to Faqirabad Police Station and inspected its various sections, including the lock-up and inquired about the nature of crimes of the detained people.

Later, he went to Yakatoot Police Station and inquired about a recent kidnapping case. He ordered that safe recovery of the kidnapped person should be ensured and efforts should be made to bring those involved the crime to court.

He stressed the need for strict compliance with the rules and regulations and efficient performance by police.

He said continuous presence of policemen at public places, especially in congested areas, was necessary to give people a feeling of security and avert untoward incidents.

He directed police to ensure prompt and efficient response to complaints.

He said no effort should be spared to bring kidnappers to book within the shortest possible time.

Stressing the importance of maintenance of correct record at police stations, he said misreporting ultimately resulted in sabotage of the proceedings of the cases.
