NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Sept 18: The members of Kandiaro taluka council on Monday expressed their concern over the worsening law and order situation, poor sanitation and shortage of water in the town.

Taluka Naib Nazim Shaukat Sehto presided over the council’s meeting.

A member, Hameeda Begum Kaimkhani, complained that sanitary staff had failed to maintain cleanliness in the town, which had led to an outbreak of malaria and gastroenteritis. Besides, the taluka hospital was short of medicines, she said.

Another member, Mukhtiar Mangrio, complained about worsening law and order situation and said that the incidents of motorcycle-snatching had become a routine but the police were no doing enough to control the crime.

There was acute shortage of water in the minors because the irrigation officials were selling water, alleged Bakht Ali Kalhoro.

Mazhar Abbasi pointed out the fact that neither any official from police nor from revenue or other departments bothered to attend the session to give answers to their complaints.

Taluka Nazim Sarfaraz Ali Shah assured the members that their problems would be taken up with the concerned departments and the officials would be directed to make it a priority to attend the council’s session.

KILLED: Four unidentified armed men killed 35-year-old night watchman, Shaman Ali Bughio, in Moro on Sunday night when he was performing his duties at Haji Ghulam Sarwar’s bungalow near Latif Cotton Factory.

The motive behind the murder could not be ascertained. Police have so far not filed any FIR of the incident.

ELECTROCUTED: Jamil Ahmed Rajput, a lineman of Hesco, was electrocuted while he was working on a pole near Latif Cotton Factory in Moro on Monday.

RALLIES: The activists of Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party staged rallies in Naushahro Feroze and Moro on Monday to protest against the registration of cases against party leaders in Hyderabad and Shikarpur.

They were led by Aziz Korai and Abbas Khokhar in Moro and Azizullah Morai in Naushahro Feroze where the workers also observed a token hunger strike.

The protesters condemned the case against STPP leaders.

HUNGER STRIKE: The activists of Sindh National Party observed a token hunger strike in Moro on Monday demanding withdrawal of case against their leader, Amir Bhambhro, and other party workers. Latif Raho and Latif Zardari led the strikers.
