MIRPURKHAS, Sept 18: Cases of malaria are increasing due to stagnant rain and sewerage water in several urban and rural areas of the town. There has been sudden increase in number of malaria patients in the Out Patient Department (OPD) of the Civil Hospital, Mirpurkhas.
This was stated by the Civil Surgeon of Civil Hospital, Mirpurkhas, Dr Roshan Ali Bhatti, while talking to a group of newsmen here on Monday.
He said that half a dozen patients of cerebral malaria were also admitted to the hospital
He said that due to an alarming situation of malaria, the authorities of the health department had been informed.
He said that doctors and staff were doing their best to cope with the situation. He said that there was immediate need for anti-mosquito fumigation in the district to reduce cases of malaria.
ARRESTED: Railway police arrested a truck driver and cleaner from loco shed and recovered stolen scrap and pieces of rail tracks loaded in the truck on Sunday night.
Javed Akhtar, permanent way inspector (PWI) of the railways, Mirpurkhas, received information that a truck was standing in the loco shed loaded with stolen railway properties including scrap. He and officials visited the spot and found a parked loaded truck.
He informed the SHO of railway police Awais Baig, who along with a contingent of police reached there and apprehended the driver, Gul Khan and cleaner Fazal Karim.
