RALLY: Dwellers of People’s Colony and Muttahida Majlis Amal will jointly take out a protest rally on Friday (Sept 22) against an inordinate delay in the construction of colony underpass at railway track.

At a meeting held here on Sunday presided over by MMA Nandipur town president Hajajullah Samdani, the participants said the highway department’s contractor had left the construction work incomplete after digging, causing a great deal of inconvenience for them.

They alleged that railway authorities were creating hurdles by raising objections on construction work.

On the other hand, the city district government had claimed a few months back that all objections had been removed and work would resume shortly, they said. Dacoits held: Aroop police claimed on Sunday to have arrested two dacoits after a brief encounter at Lohianwala village and recovered looted goods, narcotics and illicit arms from their possession.

On a tip-off, a police team raided the village. On seeing the police, the robbers opened fire. During a shootout, they surrendered and the police arrested them who were identified as Imran and Maqsood.
