HYDERABAD, Sept 17: The Hyderabad-bound Mehran Express rammed into an OGDC trailer at the Jeay Shah railway crossing in the jurisdiction of Tandojam police station on Sunday.

Railway police arrested the trailer’s driver, Wasi Ullah Niazi, and handed him over to Tandojam police. The cleaner was identified as Zulfiqar Ali.

The driver of the trailer which was going to Tandojam did not notice the approaching train and tried to get through the unmanned crossing. The train was moving at slow speed but the trailer was badly damaged.

Local police and people removed the trailer from the track and helped restore railway traffic.

The damaged railway engine was halted at Tando Jam railway station.

Two persons were killed at the same crossing in the past and trains since then were under directives to slow down near the crossing.
