PESHAWAR, Sept 16: Opposition leader in the National Assembly, Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) has been formulating a bill for protecting rights of children and women.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of annual date show in Dera Ismail Khan on Saturday, he said that MMA had formed a committee to draft a bill to safeguard rights of children and women and end discrimination against them.

NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani and senior officials of the Export Promotion Bureau also attended the ceremony.

He said that the committee would complete the draft bill and would be presented in the National Assembly very soon. He said that the government bill on women’s rights discussed only amendments Hudood laws and issues pertaining to adultery. But other issues including women right of inheritance, customs of Wata Sata and Swara had been ignored in the bill, he observed. He said that the government should formulate a comprehensive bill regarding women rights.
