KARACHI: New dean of science at KU

KARACHI, Sept 15: Prof (Dr) Iftikhar Imam Naqvi, a former chairman of the Karachi University’s chemistry department, has been appointed as the Dean of Science Faculty.

According to a source on the campus, Dr Naqvi had been appointed as the new dean of the science faculty by Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan, who is also the chancellor of the public sector universities in the province.

Dr Naqvi would perform as dean till the date of his reaching to the age of superannuation next month, said the source, adding that after exit of Dr Naqvi, Dr Sheikh Ajaz Rasool of microbiology department would take over as next science dean.

Dr Ajaz has been working as acting dean recently after the retirement of the then dean, Dr Mohammad Qaiser. The governor has also approved the appointment of Dr Ajaz for a period expiring with his reaching to the age of superannuation, it was further learnt.
