Published September 16, 2006

KARACHI, Sept 15: Bandits looted a bank in the PECHS on Friday after taking customers and staff hostage at gunpoint.

Police said that four armed men entered the Union Bank branch located in PECHS Block-6. They took people at gunpoint and collected over four million rupees. While the bandits were fleeing, the security guard of the bank opened fire wounding a person. Till Friday night, police were not sure if the man wounded in firing was a bandit or a pedestrian.

A duty officer of the Ferozabad police station said bandits entered the bank after the delivery of cash. One of the suspects was wearing security guards’ uniform, police added.

Bank Manager Kashif lodged an FIR with the Ferozabad police station.
