BAHAWALPUR, Sept 13: Four arrested accused, including a doctor, involved in the Yazman kidney case moved the trial court for their acquittal for lack of evidence against them here on Wednesday.
The Supreme Court had remanded the kidney case to the local district and sessions judge on July 6 with a directive to decide it within three months.
Accused Shehzad alias Shada, Muhammad Boota, Muhammad Ishaque and Dr Muhammad Ibrahim have submitted the application under 265 CrPC. Their fourth accomplice, Muhammad Nawaz alias Nikka was declared proclaimed offender.
On Wednesday, the judge recorded the statement of Yazman medical officer Dr Muhammad Ibrahim, who had sent complainant Muhammad Amjad for medical examination to confirm the removal of his kidney. The hearing will continue on Thursday (today).
On The complaint of Amjad, the Yazman police had registered a case against the four accused on Aug 10, 2005.
In his FIR, the complainant alleged that a doctor in Rawalpindi had removed his kidney. Muhammad Iqbal, the complainant’s father, had moved the apex court against the police for delay in the trial of the accused.
PROTEST: Lawyers protested against the police, who along with scores of people, besieged their colleague’s chamber in their bid to arrest the alleged suspect on the district court premises here on Wednesday.
Reports said the Hasilpur police along with a mob encircled the chamber of advocate Umair to arrest Iftikhar against whom a rape case under Hudood Ordinance was registered in July.
In her statement before a local magistrate, the girl said that she had contracted marriage with Iftikhar on her own will.
Later, the police implicated Iftikhar in a theft case. After the rejection of his pre-arrest bail on Wednesday, Iftikhar managed to flee.
