KHAIRPUR, Sept 11: The Sajjada Nasheen of the Dargah Sachal Sarmast, Sakhi Qabool Mohammad, has criticised the performance of the Sachal Yadgar Committee, Sindh Auqaf department and Sachal chair at the Shah Latif University.
He said that there was a need of reshuffling the SYC as members from the ruling party had been inducted into the committee who did not have any knowledge of Sachal Sarmast.
Talking to a group of journalists in Daraza on Monday, he said that the SYC activated only once a year and Sachal awards were given to irrelevant people who did not have any knowledge of mysticism and philosophy.
He said that in the category of music singers who sing Sachal’s poetry had been ignored.
He said that people who were given the Sachal award did not visit the shrine even once a year.
He said that engraved bricks on dome of shrine had been broken whereas towers had also been damaged but the Auqaf department was doing nothing to repair them.
He said that construction of Bab-i-Sachal was announced for which one of the Auqaf officials met him and offered commission for not interrupting in the construction work.
Regarding the Sachal chair at the Shah Abdul Latif University, he said that no research work had been carried out at the chair rather it only host annual dinner in honour of some notables. He said that scholars from foreign countries come to attend annual urs but they have to face many a problem.
He said that during the last three months, some 20 theft incidents occurred at the shrine and the Auqaf department boxes kept at the shrine were broken as many as seven times. He said that despite deployment of eight officials of the Auqaf department, none of them remain present at the shrine.
Replying to a question, he said that he had voluntarily offered the supreme council of Dargah, which comprises of Faqirs and Khalifas, that they might choose any other Sajjada Nasheen if they desire so.
After death of Sachal Sarmast in 1827, the construction work of Dargah was carried by the second ruler of Khairpur state Mir Rustam Khan Talpur whereas the work of engraved bricks was done in the second phase some time later.
