Publisher arrested

CHINIOT, Sept 10: The printer and publisher of a local daily was arrested while copies of the newspaper and press were seized by the administration under the Prohibition of Qadianiat Ordinance.

Police reportedly raided the offices of daily Al-Fazal, stated to be an organ of Jamaat Ahmadia, at Ziaul Islam press, Chenabnagar, 6 Km from here. Police seized the copies of the daily and arrested Mr Sultan, its printer and publisher.

Meawhile, cases have been registered against some ulema for using loudspeaker and making provocative speeches.

According to reports, police have registered cases against Maulana Abdul Hafeez Makki, Muhammad Ahmed Ludhianwi, Maulan Illyas Chinioti and Qari Shabbir Usmani under 16 MPO, 293-C PPC and 9-ATA for delivering speeches at the Khatm-i-Nabuwat conference held here a week ago. — Correspondent
