Khurram hits fine century

KARACHI, Sept 6: A superb century by Khurram Shahzad led Sialkot to a crushing 117-run victory over Abbottabad in the opening matches of the PCB National Inter-regional Under-19 One-day Cricket Championship on Tuesday.

The Sialkot skipper blasted 133 off 150 balls with 12 fours and fives sixes as his side made 267 for seven in 50 overs.

Abbottabad replied with 150 in 44.4 overs.

Islamabad scored a close 17-run win against Peshawar in a high-scoring match.

Zeeshan Mushtaq (86 off 113 balls, 10 fours) and Faizan Riaz (79 off 56 balls, six fours and six sixes) were main run-getters as Islamabad posted 285 for eight.

Peshawar, however, made a spirited response before being dismissed for 268 in 47 overs.

Fine bowling by slow left-armer Ahmed Iqbal (4-24) and fast bowler Zaheer Abbas (4-50) enabled Karachi Urban defeat Hyderabad by two wickets.

Moinuddin’s 86 off 112 balls and leg-spinner Afsar Zaheer’s four for 29 guided Multan to an easy 76-run victory against Faisalabad.
