Educators

Published September 7, 2006

LAHORE, Sept 6: The Punjab Educators Association (PEA) has said that the provincial government should also take practical steps along with its tall claims and media campaign regarding promotion of education.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, PEA leaders Muhammad Safdar, Abdul Razzaq Niazi and others said the educators had planned to hold a meeting on Sept 10 to re-launch their protest campaign as the government had failed to issue a notification with regard to the chief minister’s announcement that educators and contract employees would be given 15 per cent dearness allowance.

They said the government had also agreed to add Rs1,000 to educators salaries to make them on a par with the package for new appointees. They said the government had failed to fulfill any of its promises. —
