Action against rapists assured

KHANEWAL, Sept 6: Punjab literacy and informal education minister Syed Husain Jehanian Gardezi has pledged that the accused involved in the rape of a university student and her mother will be taken to task.

At a public meeting in Khoh Hashimwala, Chak Sher Khan, Kabirwala tehsil, the minister said no police negligence in investigation of the case regarding rape of a student of the Bahauddin Zakariya University and her mother would be tolerated.

He said efforts would be made to help the aggrieved family get justice, adding he would be in contact with the police to monitor get day-to-day progress in the investigation.

Members from the aggrieved family apprised the minister of different aspects of the case.

PML workers and office-bearers Peer Mattan Shah, Peer Maqbool Shah, Hakeem Umar Tariq, Shaikh Arshad and Khurram Shahzad also accompanied him on the occasion. — APP
