KARACHI, Sept 6: City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal has expressed concern over non-utilization of some imported sweeping machines for roads. A spokesman of the City District Government said on

Wednesday that the city nazim had taken a serious view of a photograph depicting machinery imported for mechanical sweeping lying abandoned along a flyover in Shah Faisal Town.

The nazim issued notice to all concerned, including the supplier or contractor for explaining the position.

It was further stated that the machines in question, which were operated by the supplier/contractor under the agreement of supply, were meant for regular sweeping of major roads by the city government.

Referring to the site where machines were shown lying abandoned, the spokesman said it had been provided to the contractor for parking or maintenance and any damage or fault in the machine was the responsibility of the contractor or supplier as the guarantee period was still to lapse.

In the meantime, the spokesman has also clarified city government position about another picture, showing an inundated a road due to accumulation or sewerage or rain water in Shah Faisal town area.

The spokesman said that as checked by the CDGK team, no such problem exists on the road which is a causeway crossing the Chakora Nullah which flows under the KCR Bridge in Shah Faisal Town.
