MA English classes suspended

MIANWALI, Sept 5: The MA English classes at the Government Degree College here have been suspended as there is no lecturer in the subject.

This situation compelled the college administration to stop new admission in postgraduate classes and students seeking admission had been left with no other choice but to opt for other colleges of Punjab.

After the retirement of professors Munawar Ali Malik and Sarwar Khan Niazi, the English faculty became vacant. Despite persistent requests by the college administration the high ups of education department at Lahore never paid heed to solve the issue.

MASS MARRIAGES: The Imam Khomeini complex had arranged marriage of 50 couples at Mari Indus, 30 kilometres from here, on Tuesday.

Governor Khalid Maqbool was to preside over the function but he could not turn up due to his other commitments at Lahore. District nazim Obaidullah Khan Shadikhel was the chief guest.

Meanwhile, complex principal Iftikhar Naqvi thanked the donors for their contribution for this noble cause. He said every bride was given dowry worth Rs50,000. The institute has also arranged valima.
