KARACHI, Sept 5: Normal shipping activity was witnessed at the port where MT Suzanne carrying chemicals was accommodated on Engro Vopak terminal during the last 24 hours.

Berth occupancy remained at 70 per cent where a total of eight ships were occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, seeds, edible oil and crude oil, respectively, during the same period.

The port handled a cargo volume of 89,456 tons comprising of 73,719 tons imports and 15,737 tons exports inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 1,418 containers (Teus).

The ships currently at the outer anchorage are Bum Ju (edible oil), Bunga Melati-7 (edible oil), ACT Plumeria (container), MSC Aurora (container), Nedlloyd Muscat (container), Yanaseni (chemicals), Explorer (cement) and Madre (sugar).

Three container ships sailed during the report period. Three ships Nedlloyd Muscat, ACX plumeria and Bum Ju are expected to take berths at QICT and MPT, respectively.
