QUETTA, Sept 2: Chief Minister Jam Mohammad Yousaf has said that no anti-Pakistan activity will be tolerated in Balochistan and the government will sternly deal with such elements.

Addressing a press conference here at the Chief Minister’s House on Saturday, he said no activity against the country could be allowed in the province.

He urged the opposition parties in Balochistan to adopt a positive attitude and play their role for strengthening the country instead of creating problems for it.

Referring to the protest rally announced by the opposition parties in Quetta on Sunday, he said peaceful protests were the right of political parties in a democratic country and the government would not hamper their rally.

He, however, warned that the government would deal strictly if anybody tried to disturb the law and order situation.

Mr Yousaf said that traders’ representatives and some political parties have informed him of their apprehensions regarding ransacking and damaging of public and private properties by rally participants. He added that the government had adopted strict security measures to check any such activity.

“Damaging properties is not politics,” he said and asked opposition parties to direct their workers to refrain from damaging public or private properties in the name of protest.

The chief minister said that he had directed the city nazim to hold talks with political parties to get their assurance about peace during the rally. “We will also deploy heavy contingents of police and other law-enforcement agencies to avert any untoward incident,” he said.—APP
