Rs2bn earmarked for cancer hospital

MULTAN, Sept 2: A cancer hospital on 23 kanals will be established with an amount of Rs2 billion near Madni Park in the city.

This was said by district nazim Mian Faisal Mukhtar while chairing a meeting of the district advisory committee held here on Saturday.

He directed all town officers to evolve their three-year development plans within a fortnight and submit to the district government a complete report on streetlights and run-down buildings.

EDO (finance) Dr Muhammad Aslam told the meeting that Rs110 million had been released for the construction and beautification of city parks while work on Chungi No.9 and Goaal Bagh parks was under way.

DCO Iftikhar Babar, Mian Jamil Ahmed, Arif Mansab, Diwan Nasir Husain Bokhari and Wasa director (works) Malik Tasadduq Husain also attended the meeting.

BOOKED: Three people, including two religious leaders, were booked for violating ban on use of loudspeakers here on Saturday.

Police arrested Maulana Abdul Rehman from Muhammad Sharifpura and Qari Muhammad Nasarullah from Basti Maluk while delivering provocative speeches on loudspeakers.

Police also arrested hotel owner Abdul Sami in Manzoorabad locality, Shah Rukn-i-Alam town, for allegedly tuning music at a high pitch.

Prayer leaders Maulana Haji Riaz Ahmed of Chungi No 8, Maulana Ghulam Yasin of Shorkot locality and Qari Muhammad Saleem of Muneerabad managed to escape on seeing the police.
