KARACHI, Sept 1: The Board of Advanced Studies and Research (BASR), University of Karachi, has awarded 25 PhD and M Phil degrees in various disciplines.

The Dean of Karachi University's Faculty of Arts, Prof Dr Mohammad Shamsuddin, presided over the meeting of BASR.

The candidates who have been recommended for the award of PhD by the BASR are Ms Tahsin Gulzar (HEJ), Habibullah (Arabic), Ms Sohaila Farooqi (Urdu), Ahsan Zamir Siddiqui (Pharmaceutical Chemistry), Maulana Manzoor Ahmed (Islamic Learning), Ms Erum Zamir (Chemistry), Parveen Najam (Zoology), Khalid M. Iraqi (Public Administration), Noor Muhammad (Pharmacognosy), Dr. Munawwar Alam (Pharmacology), Ahmed Abbas Khan (HEJ), Ms. Zareen Abbasi (Public Administration), Abdul Naeem Qureshi (Political Science) and Ms. Seemi Aziz (Botany).

The candidates recommended for the award of M. Phil are:

Ms Sana Amer (Pharmaceutical Chemistry), Mohammad Arshad (Pakistan Studies), Tarannum Arshad (Marine Biology), Mohammad Luqman (Marine biology), Ms Hina Akram (Biochemistry), Syed Nadeemul Hasan Mohani (Pharmacognosy), Ms Asma Iqbal (HEJ), Ms Saima Akhtar (Biochemistry), Ms Saniah Al-Sabah (Pharmaceutics), Liaquat Ali (HEJ) and Hidayatullah Khan (Chemistry).—APP
