Asif excels

LAHORE, Aug 31: Three-goal Asif Ahmed helped National Bank of Pakistan crush Army 8-3 in the Governor's Gold Cup hockey tournament at Faisalabad Hockey Stadium on Thursday.

Asif struck in the 3rd, 15th and the 44th minute. Habib Khan (32nd minute) Imran Warsi (36th), Tariq Aziz (56th), Idrees (57th) and Awais (68th) were the other scorers for the winners.

For the losers, Zafar (32nd), M Imran (44th) and Rizwan (52nd) reduced the margin.

Two goals by Rashid Imran enabled HBL earn 5-2 win against Sui Gas.

Tariq Yamin, Tariq Imran and Rizwan were the other scorers. For the losers, Saleem Khan and Waheed scored.

A goal each from Kamran Ashraf and Malik Shafqat rescued PIA from a scare as they drew Pakistan Steels at 2-2.

Mohammad Ishtiaq and Yasir Ahmed scored for Pakistan Steel.

Friday's fixture: KESC vs Army; Sui Gas vs Punjab; HBL vs Pakistan Steel.
