Karachi Port operations

KARACHI, Aug 31: Berthing activity at the wharves on Thursday was maintained on the higher side as the port agencies tried to clear the inward rush of foreign flag vessels. As a result, nine ships including Hyundai Sprinter, Marcalabria, to unload and load containers, Maersk Barry, Brasa, oil tanker, Sea Beauty, and Sinai to load cement, Patton-1 ,Crystal Lily and Anangel Eagle to unload and load general cargo were berthed.

Four ships, APL Jeddah, Hyundai Sprinter, Atlantice Trader and some others departed, while Passat, Marcalabria, Anangel Eagle, Maersk Barry, Patton-1 and Pac Antlia are due to sail out on Friday.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves modest where a total tonnage of 56,745 tons comprising 18,855 tons of export cargo, including 2,518 tons of rice, 1,316 tons of cement and 37,890 tons of import tonnage was handled.

The following ships are due on Friday: Oel Aishwarya, Selcon, with containers and C. Duckling, with rock phosphate.
