ISLAMABAD, Aug 30: Chief of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Nawaz Sharief has appealed the people to support the opposition’s call for general strike on Friday to protest against the killing of Akbar Bugti and to express solidarity with the people of Baluchistan.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, the former prime minister said: “The ever changing versions of the government about the tragic incident were proof of the fact that the government was hiding facts.”

Mr Sharif said people can not be subjugated by bullets because violence breeds violence. Pakistan is a federation, which would be strengthened only when all the four units have equal ownership and participation.

“Those rulers who usurp power by the barrel of gun always seek solution of all problems through force and violent means whereas in a democratic process even the most complex problems are resolved through dialogue and understanding,” he said.
