QUETTA, Aug 30: A pipeline supplying gas to the Sui plant was blown up near the Sui township while tribesmen blew up the railway track linking Quetta with Zahidan near Spezend on Wednesday.

According to reports, explosives had been planted under the 16-inch diametre pipeline and the explosion caused the suspension of gas supply to the main plant.

“Supply to some areas in Sindh was affected,” a security official in Sui told Dawn. He said the plant was working without interruption.

Soon after the explosion, police and other officials concerned rushed to the site and disconnected gas supply from the well.

Meanwhile, tribesmen used high explosives to blow up railway track near Spezend. Officials said that rail traffic on the affected section had been affected for a few hours.

However, the damaged track was repaired, restoring the rail traffic by evening.
