KARACHI, Aug 30: The Sindh High Court Bar Association condemned on Tuesday the military operation that resulted in the death of Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti, president of the Jamhoori Watan Party.

A resolution adopted by an emergency meeting of the SBCA managing committee under the chairmanship of Mohammad Ilyas Khan, the association’s president, said it was at a loss to understand why talks between a government committee led by PML (Q) leaders Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Syed Mushahid Hussain were discontinued and recourse was made to use of force.

The resolution warned that ‘the military action was likely to promote disharmony, misunderstanding and hatred on the basis of language, cast and creed among the citizens and might dent the spirit of nationalism’. Emphasizing its ‘consistent stand’, the association said democratic means should be adopted to resolve political problems without resort to military action.
