DHAKA, Aug 30: Indian State Minister for Home Affairs S. Raghupathy on Wednesday stressed the need for resolving the long standing disputes with Bangladesh over enclaves and border related issues through discussions.

The minister said that the border issues should be resolved with a view to cementing the existing friendly relations between the border troops of the two countries.

Mr Raghupathy made the comments while exchanging views with senior officials of the Bangladesh Rifles and the Border Security Force of India during his short visit to the Tinbigha Corridor in Bangladesh’s northern town Lalmonirhat, official sources said.

The BDR sources said the Indian minister and his entourage were given a warm reception by Rangpur Sector Commander of BDR, Colonel Lutfur Rahman, on their arrival at the corridor.
