ISLAMABAD Aug 29: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Monday said he will continue his political career and serve the people with even more devotion. Addressing a news conference in his Parliament House chamber soon after the defeat of the opposition’s no-trust move, the prime minister said he was greatly encouraged by the unity shown by the coalition parliamentary groups by turning out in their full strength in the house.

He said it was an important day in the country’s democratic history as he had defeated the no-trust motion and it had been converted into a vote of confidence in his favour.

Mr Aziz said the government would make concerted efforts to take the opposition along by creating consensus on all national issues.

About the body of Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti, he said that it had not yet been recovered and hectic efforts were under way for its early recovery from the cave complex in the Titali area in Kohlu district, adding that as soon as the body was recovered, it would be handed over to his family for burial in his ancestral graveyard.

He rejected opposition’s allegations that the government was deliberately hiding the body of the late Baloch leader and said that difficult terrain was hampering efforts to recover the body.

He reiterated the government’s offer to the relatives and family members of the deceased Baloch leader to visit the site to see for themselves the efforts to retrieve the body.

The prime minister said that he had not been worried about the outcome of the no-trust motion since his “hands were clean”.

He said unlike the past, members of parliament had not been harassed by secret agencies, adding that no one was forced to cast vote in his favour and no member was denied entry to the house.

Shaukat Aziz said that the government had shown broad mindedness by providing the opposition a whole day to speak on the motion.
