SHANKIARI/MANSHERA, Aug 26: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Saturday said that he was not worried about the no-confidence motion filed against him by the opposition and the ruling coalition parties would face it boldly.

He was addressing a public rally organised by the Mansehra district government after inaugurating the newly-built Hazara University.

Prime Minister Aziz said that the opposition should abandon negative politics and participate in constructive politics in national interest. The prime minister said that the government would assist the quake survivors until the completion of the rehabilitation drive in the NWFP and Azad Kashmir.

Announcing the launching of Rs3 billion programme in nine districts of the NWFP to rehabilitate quake survivors, he said that the project would help economically revive at least 100,000 quake-hit families. He said that transparency in distribution of funds would be maintained by the Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (Erra).

He also announced opening up of more branches of the Khushali Bank in quake-hit areas.

He said that the parts of the Karakoram Highway affected by the earthquake would be repaired, adding that the expansion of the highway would accelerate the pace of economic activities in the Hazara Division.

Announcing the grant of Rs20 million for Mansehra district, the prime minister directed the authorities distribute the funds among all union councils equitably. He said that funds have also been allocated for the gas supply in Mansehra city and surrounding areas.

The Prime Minister also announced a grant of Rs30 million for provision of better facilities in the Hazara University.
