Monsoon dwindles

Published August 27, 2006

LAHORE, Aug 26: Monsoon activity has decreased over Pakistan because of the cessation of incursion of moisture from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal, said Flood Forecasting Division here on Saturday.

An official said there was no moisture from both sides indicating stoppage of monsoon activity in the country at the moment. He, however, said there could be scattered rain in some parts of the province, including Lahore, during next 24 hours because of already existing moisture.

Technically, monsoon lasts till September 30. But its activity is normally decreased by the end of August. It remained partly cloudy in the city on Saturday and dark clouds covered the sky in the evening. — Staff Reporter
