LARKANA, Aug 26: Thirty primary teachers, including leaders of the Primary Teachers Association’s in Larkana district, were given notices of removal from service on Saturday.

They were found involved in holding protest meetings and invoking others against the ban on teachers unions.

Executive District Officer (Education) Larkana Mohammed Azam Memon on Saturday told this reporter that following the services rules norms, earlier they (teachers) had been sent on forced leave and now served termination notices.

Primary Teachers Association central general secretary Liaquat Ali Daidar, Mohammed Alam Khokhar and Anwar Bhutto were included among the terminated persons, he said.

He said the secretary education had sent Qambar Mughal, a leader of the Secondary Teachers Association Larkana on forced leave.

He claimed that except for certain schools in Larkana city, schools throughout the district remained opened and operational.

Meanwhile, a general body of the Primary Teachers Association was held here on Saturday.

They renewed their pledge to continue their struggle against the government ban teachers unions in Sindh.

Speaker criticised what they termed rigid attitude of the Sindh education minister. They alleged that the government had imposed the ban to privatize educational institutions in the province.

They announced holding a rally in Karachi on Sept 5.

After the meeting, they took out a procession led by Liaquat Daidar and Alam Khokhar, and also demonstrated outside Jinnahbagh.
