HYDERABAD, Aug 24: Four teachers were sent on ‘forced leave’ on Thursday for their alleged involvement in inciting students of the primary school in the Journalists Colony to boycott classes and ransack offices of the education department.
Teachers sent on forced leave are: Ms Surraya Jatoi, Attaur Rehman, Nazar Mohammad Junejo and Shahnawaz Noonari.
Talking to Dawn, Hyderabad EDO (education) Anwar Siddiqui said that hardly any educational institution was closed in the district on the call of the Sindh Employees Alliance.
He said that attendance in schools was normal except in those schools where rainwater was still standing.
However, a press release issued by the Sindh Employees Alliance said that on the call of its central action committee, teachers of all educational institutions boycotted curricular and non-curricular activities.
Condemning the police action against teachers in Karachi, it demanded that the Sindh education minister and secretary should be removed.
The Sindh Education Alliance in a press release claimed that the majority of educational institutions in Sindh were opened and teachers took classes as usual.
Alliance leaders Munir Bhatti and Amanullah Teghani said that the alliance did not believe in lockouts and strikes but in negotiations.
They called upon the teaching community to perform their duties honestly and not to be hoodwinked by miscreants.
KHAIRPUR: On the call of Sindh Employees Alliance, teachers boycotted academic activities in government colleges, primary, higher and secondary schools of the district.
Teachers in Gambat and Bhango Behan took out rallies wherein they condemned the baton charge by police on teachers in Karachi.
More than 100 school children accompanied by their parents took out a procession in Pir Jo Goth and raised slogans in favour of teachers.
They also condemned the baton charge on teachers.
NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: Under directives of the secretary education, the EDO education has sent four teachers on forced leave on Thursday.
The teachers participated in the protest rally in Karachi against ban on teachers’ organisations.
They are: Waryal Shah, Ghulam Akbar, Javed Akhtar and Ahmed Ali Channo.
LARKANA: A majority of schools in Larkana and Qambar-Shahdadkot districts remained opened rejecting the call of the Sindh Employee Alliance.
SEA leaders and education officials exchanged hot words at a primary school of the Railway colony.
Education officials had prepared a list of absentee teachers and faxed to the higher authorities for action.
It was learnt that salary of the absentee as per the directives of high-ups would be held up and stern action would be initiated against leaders who would disturb peaceful atmosphere.
