SWABI, Aug 23: The NWFP Local Government Commission has asked the district government to equitably distribute among union councils the Rs100 million announced by President Gen Pervez Musharraf and the Rs30 million allocated for development.

The commission issued the directive on an application moved by opposition leader Ishfaq Ahmad.

Mr Ahmad had alleged that District Nazim Shahram Khan had given a lion’s share of funds to his supporters and ignored the opposition members.

The commission directed that the Rs30 million ADP should also be fairly distributed among the district council members.

“It is a historic decision because the opposition in all districts will no longer be ignored by the treasury. The decision will create a friendly environment,” said Mr Ishfaq.

He called for the implementation of the decision in all districts of the NWFP and punishment for violators.
