BRUSSELS, Aug 23: The European Commission ordered on Wednesday that imports of long grain rice from the US be certified free of an unauthorised genetically modified strain.

The EU executive arm decided to take the action after Washington informed Brussels last week that an unauthorised strain of GM long-grain rice had been detected on the US market.—AFP
