NOWSHERA, Feb 11: The deputy director of vigilance in Pakistan Locomotive Factory, Risalpur, Safdar Nawaz, was dismissed form service over complaints lodged by the PLF employees.

The federal minister for communication, Lt-Gen Javed Ashraf Qazi, dismissed Mr Nawaz immediately after NWFP Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah took notice of the complaints and sent his recommendations for a prompt action against the official to the federal government.

Many officers and workers had accused the deputy director of embezzlement, blackmailing and misuse of his official status, and demanded an inquiry against him.

The deputy director had allegedly received loans worth lakhs of rupees from many employees. Rejecting the charges, the deputy director said that the ministry had issued the dismissal order without assigning any reason.
