KARACHI: Smuggling attempt foiled

KARACHI, Feb 11: The Customs’ Drug Enforcement Cell on Monday seized 4,079 cartons of foreign brand cigarettes, which were being exported to UK under the cover of fruits and vegetables.

The consignment was ready to be loaded on the aircraft when the examination was conducted, Customs officials said.

The exporters M/s S.A. Enterprises, Karachi, in connivance with the clearing agent, M/s STW Enterprises, and customs export examining officer had attempted to smuggled out the cigarettes valuing US26,513 dollars.

An FIR has been lodged against the suspects and efforts were being made to arrest them.
