LAHORE, Aug 16: A man was found dead in the Naseerabad police custody on Wednesday. The relatives of the deceased said Saqib, 28, was killed by the police — a charge the latter denied saying the autopsy would determine the exact cause of death.

A police source said Saqib had been under trial for the last two years in two dacoity cases. On Tuesday, he was brought to the Model Town court where he scuffled with his the policemen over some issue and inflicted a head injury with a blade.

He said Saqib was taken to the Naseerabad police for registration of a case for attempting suicide. However, he was put in the lockup. On Wednesday morning, he was found dead. The body has been sent to the city mortuary for autopsy.
