NAWABSHAH, Aug 16: The judicial magistrate, Sakrand, Mr Suhail Ahmed Mangi, sent six police officials allegedly involved in the Rasool Bux Brohi encounter case to Nawabshah jail on Wednesday.

They are inspector Nasirur Rehman, inspector Ishaque Lashari, sub-inspector Mir Faroosh, sub-inspector Asif Jameel, ASI Mujeebur Rehman and ASI Abdul Ghani of the Lyari Task Force, who were produced in handcuffs in the court of the judicial magistrate of Sakrand after completion of five days remand.

The main accused in the case, suspended SP Chaudhry Aslam Khan, could not be produced by the investigation police, Karachi.

Investigation officer Mubeen Ahmed informed the court that Chaudhry Aslam Khan was admitted to the NICVD in Karachi due to cardiac pain.

He sought further remand pleading that more arrests were to be made, including absconding ASP Shahid Umer.

Turning down the request of the investigation officer, the judicial magistrate ordered judicial custody of the six accused.

Riazat Ali, advocate, representing the complainant, requested the court to record the statements of more witnesses, including Qadir Bux, brother and Siddique Brohi, cousin of the deceased, which was strongly objected to by the investigation officer and the advocate of the accused, Mr Javed Chattari, and said that the statements should first be recorded with investigation police.

The court fixed August 21 for recording statements of witnesses and asked the advocate representing the accused to file objections.

Meanwhile, the family members of deceased Rasool Bux Brohi appealed to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan to provide them security and justice.

Talking to newsmen outside the court, Qadir Bux, Siddique Brohi, Mohammad Ismail, Ms Pathani and Ms Lal Bibi, brother, cousin, father, mother and wife of the deceased, respectively, said that they were being threatened and pressurized for a settlement but they would not forgive the killers.

Siddique Brohi further said that he was arrested along with Rasool Bux and was tortured and asked to accept that he was Siddique Rind and identify Rasool Bux as Mashooq Brohi but when he refused, police took them and killed Rasool Bux in front of him and later released due to pressure.
