Girl killed in Baltistan blast

SKARDU, Aug 15: One girl was killed and another was injured when a toy bomb exploded in Gultary sector in Baltistan on Sunday, sources told Dawn here on Tuesday. Parveen, 14, and her friend Maqsooda, 13, were harvesting in fields in Tchota Das Gultary when they found a toy. When Parween took the toy in hand it exploded, killing her on the spot. Her colleague Maqsooda was seriously injured and was shifted to the Basic Health Unit Gultary where her condition is stated to be out of danger.

THREE DIE OF CHOLERA: Three people, including a baby, died of cholera in Kharmang village some 45 km off here. They are Haji Hashim, 60, Bano, 65; and a three-month baby whose name could not be ascertained.
