KARACHI, Aug 15: The Pakistan Railway workers federation on Tuesday called for an inquiry into Ran Pathani incident in which a railway bridge was washed away by rainwater on July 30.

In a statement issued by the workers federation, its president Manzoor Razi urged the authorities concerned to remove the railway officers from the service, who were responsible for the gross negligence, and put them behind bars.

He said that a report of chief engineer and federal government inspector railways citing the depleted condition of the bridge was dispatched to the ministry of railways, but the officials concerned didn’t took any preemptive measure before hand, Mr Razi claimed.

He said that 17 days had lapsed since the incident due to which losses up to millions of rupees had suffered by the Railways.

“Even in the state of war such delays do not take place,” Mr Razi said and urged the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice of this gross negligence of railway officials.
