ISLAMABAD, Aug 13: Security authorities have obtained 14-day physical remand of an alleged Al Qaeda suspect Rashid Rauf reportedly involved in London airline terror plot.

Sources on Sunday said that the remand was given by a magistrate in Rawalpindi and the accused was being interrogated by different intelligence agencies.

They said that the suspect was likely to yield more useful information, leading to more arrests in Pakistan and the United Kingdom.

The sources said that they would share the information with the British intelligence agencies to smash the terrorist network.

The sources said that the interrogators had so far not been able to establish the exact deadline fixed by the terrorists to blow up the airplanes.

Pakistani security authorities have reportedly arrested nine suspects including two UK nationals of Pakistani origin — Rashid Rauf and another person in separate sting operations.

FLIGHT DELAY: A UK-bound British Airways flight was delayed by three hours on Sunday.

According to some passengers, the flight was scheduled to takeoff at 8am but it departed at 11am, causing great deal of inconvenience.

The delayed arrival of the same flight from London was stated to be the main cause of hold-up.

Sources in the Civil Aviation Authority said that the British Airways flight was scheduled to land at Islamabad at about 5:30am but it arrived at 8:30am.
