GUJRANWALA, Aug 10: Unidentified assailants on Wednesday night shot dead a man and his wife and injured his mother in Aziz Chak village, Wazirabad.

Reports reaching here said that landlord Muhammad Inayat and his family members were asleep when four armed men entered the house by scaling its boundary wall. They sprayed a volley of bullets on them, killing Muhammad Javed and his wife Kulsoom Bibi instantly and injuring Inayat Bibi. She was shifted to Mayo Hospital in critical condition.

The motive behind the double murder could not be ascertained. Landlord Muhammad Inayat said that his three sons had been in Muscat for the last several years. On Wednesday morning, he said a man along with some elites of the village came to his house and gave him Rs100,000 for sending them to Muscat. He claimed that he had no enmity.

Sodara police have registered a double murder case against the unidentified accused and are investigating.
