HYDERABAD, Aug 10: The Water and Sanitation Agency of Hyderabad in its daily water analysis report on Thursday said that it was supplying water to consumers which was even better than the WHO’s standard.
A spokesman for Wasa said that as per directives of District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil, the agency was analysing the Indus river water after every four hours.
He said that the analysis was being done by noted water technologist Dr Ahsan Siddiqui of the National Centre of Excellence in Analytical Chemistry of the University of Sindh.
He said that the water was analysed at six places on Wednesday and Thursday and it was found fit for human consumption.
DANGEROUS BUILDINGS: The Building Control Department of HDA notified on Thursday that notices had been served on owners of 40 dangerous buildings to get their buildings repaired.
A spokesman of the department said that before the start of rainy season, the department like previous years had launched a demolition exercise.
He said that last year 79 buildings were identified as dilapidated but this year, the number of dangerous buildings had increased to 112.
He said that out of these buildings, 13 were either demolished or repaired while cases of 59 buildings were pending in courts because of disputes over propriety rights.
He said that occupants and owners had been asked to appear before a committee which would finalise the matter.
MOBILE PHONES: The Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry has called upon the chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority and federal minister for telecommunication to direct U-phone and Mobilink companies to improve their service.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, the chairman of the chamber’s telecommunication committee, Saleemuddin Qureshi said that the service of U-phone and Mobilink was totally unsatisfactory.
He said that domestic and international calls were more often than not dropped and it amounted to mental torture. He said the business community was the worst sufferer and deserved a batter deal.
He called upon authorities concerned to take legal action against the cellular companies which were cheating subscribers due to their substandard service.
