BANGALORE, Aug 9: Indian cricket team’s physiotherapist John Gloster removed all doubts about Sachin Tendulkar's fitness, indicating the maestro's injured right shoulder has healed completely.

“Sachin has passed fitness test to play in Sri Lanka. I can only say this much,” he told reporters a day before team leaves for Sri Lanka for tri-series also involving South Africa.

Coach Greg Chappell had caused a flutter a few days ago when he said Tendulkar, after all, might not be completely fit and might not be able to throw from the deep.

But Gloster, who had given Tendulkar fitness certificate July 18, sought to allay all fears about his participation in the tournament starting in Colombo Aug 14.

He observed Tendulkar for five days in Mumbai before giving him fitness certificate.

Tendulkar, whose injury was disclosed after home Test series against England in March, underwent graded physical testing of his shoulder under supervision of Gloster in Mumbai.

It was in London orthopaedic surgeon Andrew Wallace operated on cricketer in March, who was diagnosed of injury in his right shoulder after three-Test series against England.—Agencies
