NAWABSHAH, Aug 9: Thirty three Pakistanis who had been deported from Muscat for illegal stay escaped from the custody of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) near Hala on National Highway on Wednesday.

The FIA was shifting a total of 85 Pakistanis deportees to Sukkur in two buses (JB-8640) and (JB-9224). When the bus (JB-8640) reached near Hala, 33 deportees overpowered the FIA staff and the driver and succeeded in escaping.

The buses shifted the rest to Sukkur.

The regional police officer of Hyderabad has suspended Sakrand TPO Rahib Khan Tunio, Bhanot TPO Ashiq Khebar, SHO of Batho police station, Shafi Jamali and other lower staff for negligence.

The DPO of Nawabshah said that the suspended officials were directed to provide escort to the buses while they passed through the areas under their jurisdiction.

The RPO has constituted an inquiry committee headed by DPOs of Nawabshah and Matiari to fix the responsibility.

Batha police were still awaiting a formal complaint by FIA to file a case of the incident by the time this story was filed.

19 Ulema booked: The Nawabshah police booked 19 Ulema under the Loudspeaker Act.

The A-section police booked 13 Ulema, including Maulana Kifayat Hussain Karimi, Maulana Yaqoob Qadri, Maulana Tahir Irshad, Maulana Shaukat Ali, Maulana Mohammad Ashraf, Maulana Ghulam Farid Awaisi, Maulana Qazi Mohammad Hamid, Maulana Abdul Salam Brohi and others.
