KARACHI: Promotion of handicrafts

KARACHI, Aug 9: Additional Secretary for Culture, Tourism and Social Welfare Javeria Agha said that the UNESCO would play active role in the development and promotion of handicrafts from Sindh in the international market.

Speaking at a training workshop on Wednesday, she said that the United Nations Education, Science and Culture Organisation had provided funds to Sindh Social Welfare Department for this project.She said that the project would help in production and export of the handicrafts from Sindh, which would not only generate income for local artisans but also help in earning foreign exchange for the country.

She said that the UNESCO, social welfare department and the Heritage Foundation had joined hands and selected five districts for this project.—APP
