KARACHI, Aug 8: The Site Association of Industry on Tuesday wrote a letter to the KESC chief executive officer, strongly protesting against assertions made by the company’s chief spokesman in an interview given to a private news channel.

“We are totally appalled at what he had to say. According to the spokesman, there is no power problem being faced by the industry and everything is working fine. Even the press conference held jointly by the Site Association and the KCCI on Monday, according to him, was only to gain political mileage and concessions,” said the letter sent to the KESC chief by Site Association Chairman Amin Bundukda.

Such an attitude of the senior KESC official was highly irresponsible and showed callousness and lack of empathy for the industry and trade. The letter said, “You are aware that we are the biggest customers of KESC.”

The association is on a daily basis holding discussions and meetings with senior KESC officials and they are fully aware that electricity feeders and H.T. cables are still not working and power supply from them to the industry has been shut down since July 30. Almost 50 per cent of the Site area had been without power for the last 10 days, the Site body chairman said in his letter.

“We request you to send the spokesman to the Site Association along with other members of KESC and media personnel so that they can be abreast of the actual situation,” the letter said, giving details of the sub-stations closed down since July 30.--APP
