Thunderstorm, rain forecast

LAHORE, Aug 7: The Meteorological department has forecast scattered thunderstorm in Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala and Lahore divisions and Sindh and isolated rain in Bahawalpur division for Tuesday (today).

It said here on Monday that southerly monsoon was reaching Punjab up to 10,000 feet height while westerly monsoon low over Kashmir was still persisting.

A well-marked seasonal low also lay over southern Balochistan. Scattered rain and thunderstorm with isolated heavy falls were expected over the upper catchments of all major rivers, northern and north-western Punjab and the NWFP.

It further said that scattered rain was also expected in Sindh and north-eastern Balochistan and isolated rain in Punjab and western Balochistan.

Meanwhile, the Lahore Flood Forecasting Division reported that river Indus was in high flood at Chashma and medium flood at Tarbela, Kalabagh and Taunsa. River Chenab was in high flood at Qadirabad and medium flood at Guddu and Sukkur. River Chenab was in low flood at Marala and river Ravi in low flood at Balloki.

Water inflow at Tarbela was 3.94 lakh cusecs and outflow 3.07 cusecs. Inflow at Head Marala was 1.48 lakh cusecs and outflow 1.28 lakh cusecs. Water level at Tarbela dam was 1,535.90 feet and Mangla 1,201.05 feet, it said.
