Five die in road accident

SAHIWAL, Aug 7: Five people were killed and about a dozen others injured in a road accident here on Monday near Chak 112/12-L on GT Road. Reports said a pickup laden with vegetables was going from Chichawatni to Kassowal. Near the village, it struck against a tree in a bid to overtake a donkey cart. The dead have been identified as Nasir Ahmed, Zahoor Ahmed and Abdul Rashid. Two bodies could not be identified.

The injured included Muhammad Saeed, Rasheed, Irshad, Ramzan, Shakeel, Akram, Naveed, Mahmood Ahmed, Rafiq and Arshad. The condition of Rafiq and Arshad was stated to be critical and were shifted to neuro-surgery ward of the DHQ hospital.

Driver of the pickup managed to escape.

Chichawatni saddar police have registered a case.
