Rain havoc in N. Areas: two killed

GILGIT, Aug 7: Flash floods caused by continuous heavy rain that lashed various parts of the Northern Areas for the third day, killing at least two people in Miancher in Nagar tehsil and Ratu village of Astore district.

At least 13 houses are reported to have been destroyed in the Miancher Nagar area, two in Jaglotegah, three shops, wheat stacks and six fields of standing maize crop in the Guru Jaglote locality.

The floodwater blocked Karakoram Highway near Guru, while the hishway also remained blocked in Chilas for the third day.

Police officials said that one Shaikh Ghulam Asgher was killed by flood in Miancher Nagar.
